The MSc in Economics brings you the quantitative skills and analytical mindset that are essential for a successful career in governmental organisations, international institutions and private sector firms such as banks and economic consultancies. The rigorous and research-based education will enable you to undertake advanced economic analysis by applying modern economic theory and state-of-the-art tools for handling data and conducting econometric analysis (using, for example, STATA and MATLAB). The programme offers a wide range of elective courses (60 credits in total), allowing you to specialise in your field of interest. You also have the opportunity to study one semester abroad at one of our international partner universities.

The Master’s programme in Mathematical Statistics provides a broad spectrum of tools and methods for handling random phenomena occurring in scientific as well as industrial contexts. Within the programme, you can specialise in many different areas such as the modelling of economical, biological and environmental data. You study at least 45 credits in mathematical statistics at the Master’s level and write a Master’s thesis of 30 credits. The remaining (at most 45) credits can be used in additional mathematical statistics courses or, for example, mathematics or numerical analysis, as well as in other subjects, for example, computer science, economics, molecular biology and bioinformatics.

This programme is apt for students interested in careers across a wide range of organisations and sectors in the fields of business, consulting and finance. You will gain an advanced level of understanding of the theories and practices, and apply these skills in practical decision contexts. A strong emphasis is put on training your abilities to discerningly and critically apply your knowledge in decision situations, and you will meet challenging, team-based projects, cases and experiments. The programme structure is flexible in that much of the course work consists of elective courses. This allows you to design a preferred specialisation within the broader area of accounting and corporate finance.

In this double degree programme, you spend the first year at either Universidad Carlos III de Madrid or the University of Groningen. The programme trains the next generation of analysts, researchers and professionals in the field of development and growth. It combines the expertise of three highly ranked European universities into a common platform with leading scholars in economics, economic history and demography. A hallmark of the programme is the emphasis on the personal contact between professors and students, achieved by small classes. You will, in close supervision of a highly qualified faculty member, complete two independent research projects (theses) both at the end of year 1 and year 2 of the programme.

International trade evolves rapidly. Those interested in doing business within the EU and globally must know the rules governing their business-operations. Contemporary international trade law involves multiple fields of law, which affect all aspects of business. Firms and institutions must constantly be prepared to adapt to new challenges. For example, climate considerations and other issues of sustainability transform the business environment globally. In addition, digitalization, artificial intelligence and automation create new legal issues for businesses and legislatures. The programme, which builds on previous studies in law, management and/or economics, provides an in-depth understanding of both the practical and theoretical aspects of trade and tax law within the EU as well as globally.
