The Biostatistics and Data Science (MA) program at the Medical College of Wisconsin provides a learning experience focused on solid theoretical foundation along with practical experience. Robust course offerings, active engagement in statistical consulting, and a capstone project create ample opportunities to develop essential analytical and communication skills. Consulting projects ranging from the simplest to the most complex protocols and data collection schemes allow students to get experience of working with data in the area of cancer research, cardiovascular diseases, clinical trials, genomics, big data, and machine learning. This hands-on experience will enable students to synthesize the acquired knowledge and integrate various courses they have taken. The 31-credit program can be completed in 18 months. Students will leave fully prepared to take on the challenges of careers in the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare, biomedical sciences, academics, and general data analytics.

The Master’s programme in Mathematical Statistics provides a broad spectrum of tools and methods for handling random phenomena occurring in scientific as well as industrial contexts. Within the programme, you can specialise in many different areas such as the modelling of economical, biological and environmental data. You study at least 45 credits in mathematical statistics at the Master’s level and write a Master’s thesis of 30 credits. The remaining (at most 45) credits can be used in additional mathematical statistics courses or, for example, mathematics or numerical analysis, as well as in other subjects, for example, computer science, economics, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
